Why do we use SoftWashing as our preferred cleaning solution rather than power washing?
Whilst we have a power washer and steam cleaner in our armoury of kit we only use it in the right place and at the right time.
Power washing, If done incorrectly can really do more damage than good.
Take cleaning a roof for example!
If a roof is cleaned with a power washer, three main issues can occur:
Firstly, the operative (unwilling or unknowingly) can direct the power and spray up and under the tiles. Tiles are not designed for this to happen. The result! A leaking roof and wet roof space. Meaning all of those christmas decorations could be soggy and wasted when you put them up in December. Worst still... all of your family memories could be just memories!!!!
Secondly, to clean your roof with a power washer your chosen friend, local window cleaner or company who is doing the work will either have to use a rotary head on the end of an extendable pole or climb onto your roof.
Which is worse?
Extendable poles with a rotary head are hard to control and can damage tiles by being dragged around on the roof. They also have a tendency to whip around crashing up and down on your tiles… Not a great option at all and it could be even more money to fix.
Walking on your roof also has a bad impact on your roof. Broken tiles and damages all over. Not to even mention the possibility of a fall. Who is at risk in this situation? You, the operative? Both? Do you know?
Long story short... you?
Thirdly, power washing does not actually kill the moss, algae, lichen or mould. It merely spreads the spores around meaning that it will return. And quickly!!
To me, all of the above options seem costly in the long run, dangerous and very long winded...
So why do we prefer SoftWashing?
SoftWashing is the alternative to pressure washing using water based, biodegradable chemicals. They emulsify dirt and grime, break down bugs nests and webs as well as kill mold, mildew, algae and bacteria, whilst sanitising the surfaces being cleaned. SoftWashing uses only one third the water of pressure washing, lasts four to six times longer and doesn't erode the surface, like pressure washing often can.
